Ahnapee Trail Opportunities

The Ahnapee State Trail is the destination of recreational users from all over the state. Bikers, hikers, and horseback riders will visit this jewel of nature, located in Kewaunee and Door Counties, and the Friends of the Ahnapee State Trail have been working hard to ensure that this year provides another exciting season of supporting the trail.

First and foremost, we would like to thank all of you who have supported the trail in the past. Whether through monetary donations, volunteer hours, or donations of materials, the work that has been done to build, promote, and maintain this trail has brought about many positive changes over the past years. Our work continues this year, as we work to raise funds to build a trailhead building in the village of Luxemburg. This facility will welcome trail users in every season and will become a gathering place for group activities on the trail.

Opportunities for involvement:

  1. Membership in the Friends of the Ahnapee State Trail
    2. Sponsor the Ahnapee Summer Solstice 50
    3. Register to participate in the Ahnapee Summer Solstice 50 with your team of runners.
    4. Volunteer to man one of the relay stations. 5 person minimum.

Please fill out a membership application, or online application and consider this benevolent opportunity. The Friends organize fund raising activities for the trail, provide volunteers for trail projects, and offer ideas for improving the trail. Past projects include the Reckelberg Park addition in Casco Junction, the fence in Maplewood, and the acquisition and placement of mile markers along the trail (still in progress).

Our major fundraiser is the Ahnapee Summer Solstice 50 Mile/50K. The run will start and end at the Luxemburg Fairgrounds. Goes through Casco Junction, Bruemmer Park, Casco, and Algoma.

This year, the event will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 . Every year, the Friends group asks local businesses to help sponsor this event and all proceeds from the event are put directly back into the trail in the form of maintenance and improvement. For this relay there will be 6 exchange points. We are looking for 6 major sponsors for these stations. We have included a sponsorship form in this mailing for your consideration. Please keep in mind that we are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax deductible.
